  • Q1: Are the data safe if secured by USB Disk Protection?
    Yes. USB Disk Protection can keep your data from being viewed, modified and deleted when your computer is being used by other people. Note: no software can prevent your USB, portable and local drives from malicious formatting or physical damages. If you need to prevent your data from loss, please make a data backup or block any malicious access to your computer or drives.

  • Q2: If I forget the password, can I recover it anywhere to access my protected data or do the same in any other way?
    No, you can't. Because the protected data is encrypted using your password as a key, while your password is asymmetrically encrypted and stored in the drive. Note: if your password is too simple, other people may guess it, so you are encouraged to choose a strong password. If you are afraid of losing your password, using the password hint may be a good idea.

  • Q3: Can I change it if a password is set?
    Yes.

  • Q4: Which operating systems are supported by USB Disk Protection?
    USB Disk Protection can be running on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008 and Windows 7.

  • Q5: If USB Disk Protection is installed on my USB or portable drive, can I access my protected data from other computers?
    Yes. You can do so from any operating systems that USB Disk Protection supports without installing any other softwares.

  • Q6: When I'm running the USB Disk Protection installer or logging in, why does the message box saying "The services on which the program depends can not be installed and running..." jump out?
    Please make sure you are running the software on on a supported operating system. If this problem occurs, you may email us your operating system version information and program screenshots, we'll solve it as soon as possible.

  • Q7: If some files exist before USB Disk Protection is installed to my USB partition, will these files be protected after USB Disk Protection is installed?
    No. If you wish to protect such files, you are supposed to move them to the secret partition created by the software (you may click Explore to know which partition is created by the software).

  • Q8: After USB Disk Protection is running, if I close it, say by clicking the right-top-corner Close button, have I exited the accessing to the protected data?
    Yes.

  • Q9: Can I use USB Disk Protection if I'm a non-administrator user of my operating system?
    Yes, but you'll be required to enter the administrator account name and password when you try to run the software, otherwise you can't run it.

  • What can I do if the message box saying "Initializing protected data failed..." pops up when installing USB Disk Protection?
    First, make sure the partition on which you want to have USB Disk Protection installed is writable. If this problem occurs, please email us your operating system version information and program screenshots, we'll solve it as soon as possible.

  • Q11: What can I do if the message box saying "the protected data are being used..." pops up when clicking Dismount to exit the accessing to protected data?
    First, close any programs and windows that possibly are using such protected data. In addition, you need to close all Explores under certain operating systems.

  • Q12: What can I do if the message box saying "You are accessing the protected data in the partition..." pops up when uninstalling USB Disk Protection?
    Run USB Disk Protection in that partition and click Dismount to exit the accessing to the protected data.
